The Great Fruit and Vegetable Experiment

Today I am starting an exciting experiment involving fruit and vegetables. It has two main objectives:

  1. Save money
  2. Eat Healthier (and lose that Christmas weight)

I bought some apples, bananas, tomatoes, celery and grapes to sustain me through the week. Unfortunately the effects are short lived (about 2 hours). I may need to consider a multi-vitamin so that my body can best absorb the nutrients. Feeling as though I was going to pass out I gave up and bought Subway (with chicken) for lunch. I’m feeling better now.

You might want to think about adding some protein to that exciting experiment of yours, since you kind of need it to live.

If you’re still dedicated to your hardcore fruit and veg lifestyle, you can always hit up lentils and beans for protein. This is the secret that stops vegetarians from dying all the time.

Of course, I don’t want to actually be a vegetarian. I could never do that. What I am trying to do is reduce the costs of eating during the day, whilst remaining healthy and alive.

I didn’t do too badly on Friday when I pigged out on Grapes and Tomatoes.

Don’t forget that fruit is stacked full of sugar.

    Will.

Fruit may be stacked full of sugar, but I’ve never heard of someone putting on lots of weight from eating too much fruit.

You might hear of people dying of malnutrition though. I once heard of a guy who wanted to put on weight and heard that bananas make you gain weight so he bought a crate of bananas and ate them all, but he just felt really sick and didn’t gain weight at all.

I wouldn’t say fruit is *stacked* full of sugar, but at least it’s giving you *some* energy as opposed to just eating vegetables.

Also don’t forget that most fruit is high in fibre so if you eat too much it might give you the runs.
